Intersection of Nathan Street & Alfred Street

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is currently undertaking intersection safety upgrade works at the intersection of Nathan Street and Alfred Street until Saturday 11 May 2024.

These initiatives are strategically designed to enhance the overall safety conditions, ensuring a secure and improved travel experience for all road users.

When visiting Townsville Shopping Centre, if you are heading to the upper levels and would normally travel near this intersection we suggest;

• If travelling north along Nathan St (from Lavarack Barracks, James Cook University or Townsville University Hospital), that you turn right onto Leopold St, then left onto Elizabeth St, then left onto Alfred.
• For all other directions of travel, please use Ross River Rd, turn onto Elizabeth St, then turn onto Alfred St.
